The Cyprus Cheesemakers Association was established to address the need for an organized body that supports professional cheesemakers and advocates for the growth and development of the sector. Founded on November 17, 1990, in Nicosia, the Association operates as a professional organization under the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).
The primary aim of the Association is to unite all cheesemakers practicing their craft in Cyprus, providing a platform to address challenges faced by the sector while safeguarding the professional interests of its members. Additionally, the Association plays a key role in collaborating with government authorities to enhance laws and regulations affecting the profession, fostering an environment conducive to growth and innovation.
The Association achieves its objectives through various legal means, including organizing events, hosting conferences, issuing announcements, and publishing materials to inform stakeholders and the wider public. Membership is open to any legal or natural person who legally practices the cheesemaking profession in Cyprus.
The Association’s Board of Directors, elected by its General Assembly, is responsible for steering the organization’s actions and implementing the decisions taken at Annual General Assemblies.
Vision
The vision of the Cyprus Cheesemakers Association is to achieve international recognition for the excellence of Cypriot dairy products and to establish halloumi as a globally renowned cheese.
Mission
The mission of the Cyprus Cheesemakers Association is to foster the continuous growth and advancement of the cheesemaking sector by formulating and implementing policies that enhance its operations. The Association and its members are dedicated to promoting Cypriot dairy products, with a particular focus on halloumi, on a global scale while strengthening the sector’s role as a vital pillar of the Cypriot economy.
